Allan Robert Larson, age 78, of Houston, MN, died Monday, February 19, 2024, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI.
Allan was born November 20, 1945, in Rushford, MN, the son of Irving and Frances (Tracey) Larson.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam Conflict. While he was in basic training, he met his Army buddy, Ray Pedri. Later in life Allan and Ray reconnected, and the two remained friends.
Allan was united in marriage to Kay Brooks on January 18, 1969 in St. John’s Catholic Church in Winona, MN, and to this union one son was born. He worked in construction for several years, until he decided to move back to the family farm. Allan farmed with his father and uncle until they retired. He took over the farm, until his retirement in 1996. He loved to travel, enjoying trips with Kay to Florida, Arizona,Texas, and Alaska. Allan enjoyed many happy hours, especially at the VFW. He was also a past commander at Rushford VFW Post #5905. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Allan’s favorite fishing partner was his son Jason, although he was always out-fished by him. One of his favorite pastimes was stopping in for a cold one. Allan was a loving grandfather, and was so proud of his 3 grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Kay of Houston; son, Jason (Diane) Larson of Houston; and grandchildren: Elizabeth and Amanda of Houston;
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Jared Larson.
A visitation will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 4-7pm at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford, MN.
