Allen Abel Obituary

Allen graduated from Circleville High School in 1962. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 – 1969 during the Vietnam War, earning rank of Sargent; and served from 1968- 1969 in the Army National Guard.
He was a lifelong farmer and stockman. Allen worked for Goodyear Tire Company as an Earth Mover Curer for 35 years, retiring in 2006.
He was a member of the Evangel Church, American Legion Post 44, Holton V.F.W. Post 1367, Elk Creek Turtle Club, Circleville Saddle Club and Local 307 Rubber Workers Union.
Allen enjoyed fishing, roping, rodeos and coyote hunting.
Allen married Micheala Jean "Mickie" Haag on March 28, 1965 in Holton, KS. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2016; after 50 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Argel and Elva Abel.
Survivors include his 3 daughters, Teralee S. Abel of Seneca, KS, Melinda "Jo" Cordell (Larry) of Havensville, KS and Alane D. Bloom (Jim) of Goff, KS; son Allen "Dean" Abel (Jessica) of Holton, KS; 2 sisters, Thelma J. Dick of Circleville, KS and Thersa J. Wade of Holton, KS; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service with Military Honors will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date at Circleville Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Circleville Alumni or Circleville Saddle Club c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
