Allen Harold Crutchley Sr., of Fulton, NY, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, with his loving wife Sharon by his side. He was born in Brunswick, NJ to his late parents, Douglas H. & Ruth H. (Teall) Crutchley on December 20, 1944. He was a graduate of John C. Birdlebough High School in
Phoenix, NY. He was a lifetime resident of the village of Phoenix, while recently moving to Fulton, NY, to be closer to family, while battling Alzheimer's.
Allen, also known to many as,"BZ", was a man of many trades. They called him the "Wizard", as he could achieve anything he put his mind to. He was the owner and operator of Crutchley Electric, until being employed as a Machinist at the Miller Brewing Co. in Fulton, NY, from the day they opened until close. He was later employed by Majestic Mold & Tool in
Phoenix, NY until retiring.
He enjoyed being with family & friends, traveling with Sharon and camping every year at Hyde Lake with many members and families from the Phoenix Fire Department, as well as camping at Sto-ne-nols campground for many years and most recenty Holiday Harbor on Lake Ontario. BZ also loved all animals including giving many treats to family pets. Everyone knew he was a jokester and could make anyone smile. He loved going to see local bands and dancing with Sharon. Everyone learned so much from him, as he was always the first one there with a helping hand.
He was also a volunteer Fireman with the Phoenix Enterprise Fire Company where he completed training to become an EMT and later to further his certification to become a Paramedic and then helped in starting the 1st Advanced Life Support Ambulance Service for Phoenix. He also completed several hours of training & schooling to earn the credentials to be a well trained fireman, with courses in forest, grass & brush school, aircraft crash & rescue, hurst tool,pump operations, just to name a few. He was also a former Captain, Lieutenant, Engineer & President to later become a lifetime member. He gave his heart & soul to the Phoenix Fire Dept. and anyone that he could assist in helping in any way that he could.
He is also predeceased by his brother, Brian C. Crutchley. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sharon J.(Allen) Crutchley of Fulton, NY; two sons, Allen H (Cathy) Crutchley Jr. of Fulton, NY & Jeffrey M.(Michele) Crutchley of Fulton, NY; grandchildren, Tristen Crutchley, Ryan Crutchley (Rachel), Kyle Crutchley and Jonathan Wagner; great-grandchildren, Amaya, Bryce, Addison & Avery; along with with several nieces & nephews and many many friends.
He is also survived by two brothers, Wayne Crutchley of Marietta, GA, and Lawrence "Larry" (Susan) Crutchley of Rexford, NY
There will be a celebration of life held at the Phoenix Enterprise Fire Co. located at 457 Main St.,
Phoenix, NY, on Friday March 7, 2025 from 4pm-6pm, with a service and food to follow. A private family burial will take place in the spring at the Phoenix Rural cemetery.
