Allen Ferguson, affectionately known as 'Ferg' to some, and 'Benny' to family passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in Laham, MD where he resided for his last years. He was born on April 17, 1962, to Brenda and Allen Ferguson. Allen has one precious daughter, Dawn Wright.
Benny attended Wilmington High School and later discovered he had a God given, uncanny ability to perform a variety of home repairs with ease.
Benny was a skilled craftsman. Whether the repair needed to a home was landscaping, carpentry, installations, drywalling or painting, he took pride in completing the project and helping to improve the value of everyone's property he worked on. The word was out- and Benny quickly became known as the neighborhood handyman serving the New Castle County Community!
His passion continued for fixing home repairs and improvement as he relocated to Suitland, Maryland with his favorite Cousin Carolyn for almost 20 years. Benny soon became the neighbor handyman in Suitland too! Also, he worked for Washington DC General Hospital in the Maintenance Department.
Benny adored his cousins in Maryland, and-come what may-they loved Cousin Benny! He shared a unique, close bond with his favorite Cousin Carolyn and her daughter, Asphen aka Tootsie. Benny celebrated many birthdays, holidays, and barbecues with them cooking his signature dishes of fried fish or steak with potatoes for family. Also, he was especially fond of his favorite Cousin Charlie and the entire Chase family. He enjoyed the serenity of fishing with his cousins or just spending quality time 'cutting up' with them.
Benny loved learning and sharing his knowledge about animals. He enjoyed watching movies, National Geographic, and Forensics with his siblings. Furthermore, Benny was widely known for his sense of humor bringing laughter to all his loved ones.
Most importantly, Benny received Christ as His Savior in 1996. He shared a sacred bond with his best friend, Apostle Minnie Archy. It was in this friendship where Benny could bare his soul without judgement and be embraced with the Lord's unconditional love, redemptive power, and hope throughout his entire life. Benny cherished Apostle Minnie as his best friend and beacon of hope.
He leaves a legacy of kindness, laughter (sense of humor), and home improvements.
Predeceased by his mother-Brenda Joyce, father-Allen, Uncle Micheal aka 'Soup', Uncle Jim aka Jocko, Aunt Karen, and Aunt Serlina. Benny is survived by his devoted daughter-Dawn; his siblings: Trina, Carmen, Nathan, Kathy, and Dion, and his precious nephews and nieces: Kyle and Nate Jr, and Sienna along with his devoted best friend: Apostle Minnie Archy, as well as a host of beloved cousins.
