Allen and I were classmates at MCHS1963-1966. We played together in the MCHS band. We became good friends through our love for music. Years later, Allen was the band director at Murray Middle School where my three children were his band students. He was a godly man with outstanding character. His legacy is passed on through the hundreds of students that he influenced through his teaching. Thank you, Allen.

My condolences to everyone who knew Allen. I first met him when my daughter was in band at Murray MS 1987 or 8. I was one of the band moms all 3 years. We had great laughs on the trips we did. RIP my friend.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the the family and friends of Mr. Gilbert. I met him when my son Robbie was at Hidden Oaks Middle School. Mr. Gilbert help my son diversify his musicality. He encouraged him to find joy in music. I will forever be thankful for that. I was honored to be a band mom and support Mr. Gilbert and his band program. He will be missed but I know he is either conducting or play music beside our precious Lord.

I will remember Brother Gilbert as a faithful member of Port Salerno Church of God. When I met him he was retired from education but his love of music was evident as he lead the men's choir and worked the sound booth. He is already missed. God bless the family

Mr. Gilbert was my band teacher at Murray Middle back in the early 80´s. He was one of the kindest, most accepting, coolest, and most talented gentlemen I´ve known. He was dearly loved by his students, including me. Sending deepest condolences to his family. Fly high with the angels, Mr. Gilbert.

I started working with Allen at Murray Middle School, around 1986. We moved to Hidden Oaks, together, when it opened. I always marveled at how he could take a bunch of goofy middle schoolers, and teach them to play such beautiful music. I was so proud when my son played drums in the HOMS band, for Mr. Gilbert.
Rest in peace, my old friend.
