The outspoken, feisty Allen Ray Hargrove, 75, was born on September 13, 1950 in Akron, Ohio. He passed away on September 16, 2025 at Phoenix of Fairlawn in Fairlawn, Ohio. Allen was a poet in his own right. He was well known to all for his “colorful” way of putting together his logic of how he viewed the world and people around him with his profound and not so profound “imagery.” It was his imagery that brought laughter and joy to some, bewilderment to others, and ..yes sometimes anger to those who were convicted or pricked in their hearts with the sharp truth that often emanated from his lips…..You could say he truly had a way with words!
He was the son of Harrington & Louvenia Hargrove. He attended South High School, after which he worked in the roofing business, and for the Rail Road.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents David and Ethel Gibson, Calvin & Estella Hargrove. Father Harrington Sr., Mother Luvenia Hargrove, Sisters, Sheila and Retha, Granddaughter, Serra Senter, and Son in law, William Winkler.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Harmon-Hargrove, of 41 years. Daughters, Shauntee’, Tocarah, Krystin, Tia, Dorlisa (Winkler), Anita. Sons, Allen Hargrove II, Anthony Hargrove -Jones, Allen and Lamont Brown. Grandchildren Jadyn Godsey, Jordyn, Delina, and Harrington Hargrove, Chase Nguyen, Harper Hicks, Aria, and Aaron Armstrong, Serria Senter, Christopher, Julius, and Bryce Hargrove, Daniya and Alliyah Hargrove-Ruiz. Great-grandchildren, Zanyiah Miller, Jurney, Julius Jr., Torryn, Aurielle and Naloni Hargrove, Sebastian Hargrove-Burton, Jaionna Hargrove-Ruiz, Izzari Hargrove-Mcadory, Allen Brown Jr., Micalah Brown, Michael Brown.
