Allen Dale Hendrix, 80, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City.

Allen was born on February 4, 1945, in Ray County, the son of Milo Everett and Ruth Elnora (Cook) Hendrix. He was first united in marriage to Alma Ruth Scott of Tennessee; they were blessed with three children before later divorcing. He then married Anita Huffman of Richmond, and they later divorced.

Survivors include: two sons, Scott Hendrix of Richmond and Jason (Lisa) Hendrix of Bonner Springs, KS; daughter, Kerri Hendrix of Kansas City, KS; three grandsons: Drake (Tasha) Hendrix, Allen Hendrix, Jr., and Dylan Hendrix; two great-granddaughters, Zona Hendrix and Letty Hendrix; three stepchildren: Richard Davis, Kerry Collins, and Danny Collins; and two sisters, Carolene (Gary) Nolker of Richmond and Marsha Tracy of Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Dakota Hendrix, and brother-in-law, Clarence Tracy.

Allen was raised and educated in the area of his birth and graduated with the Richmond High School Class of 1963. During high school, Allen enjoyed his time as a member of FFA. Throughout his life, he was well-known in the community as a talented painter, working for many years as a self-employed painting contractor. His artistic ability extended beyond his profession-Allen enjoyed carving soapstone, crafting wooden canes, and creating other unique pieces. He was also an avid collector, with a lifelong interest in knives, guns, and coins. Allen was of the Christian faith and will be remembered as a well-loved father, grandfather, and brother.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Allen Hendrix Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial services to be announced shortly. Inurnment will be in Richmond Memory Gardens. Please remember to share your memories of Allen with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
