Allen Lee Houser

Allen L. Houser, 80, of Pueblo, passed away at Joni Fair Hospice House on May 31, 2016. He was born on June 17, 1935, to Stanley and Blanche Houser in Swanton, Nebraska. He graduated from Wilber High School and went on to graduate from Doane College in May 1957. Allen enlisted in the Army for three years and his basic training was at Ft. Carson, Colo. He was then accepted into the Military Counter Intelligence Agency (CIC) where he was assigned to Ft. Holabird, Md. After specialized training, he was assigned to Ft. Riley, Kan. where he spent the remainder of his military service. After his service, Allen moved to Lincoln, Neb. and joined State Farm Insurance where he spent the next 38 years in the claims department. He was united in marriage to Donna Nathan on June 2, 1962. Together they raised three children, Mike (Cindy), Brian (Becky) and Shari. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Alyssa (Robbie), Joseph, Joshua, Brandon, Bryanna, Brittni, Madison and Brooklynn. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for 45 years, where he was an elder, taught Sunday School and held various positions. Allen was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, and loved being involved in his grandchildren's lives. He loved Nebraska Corn Huskers football, playing golf and cribbage. He was an avid gardener and could make anything grow. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Donna; sons, Mike and Brian; daughter, Shari; sister, Judy Rehm; grandchildren; and extended Nebraska family. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium.
