Allen D. Johnson, age 88, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the VA Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. A Celebration of LIfe will be held in August. The date and time will be published once confirmed.

Allen DuWayne Johnson was born August 12, 1936, in Toronto, SD, to Martin and Clara (Grimile) Johnson. He attended Astoria High School, graduating in 1954. Following graduation, when he wasn't cruising down the streets of Astoria in his car, sporting his bumper sticker "There goes Al", he hauled cattle for Elmer Hulsebus. In 1956, he enlisted in the United States Army, alongside 2 of his classmates and a friend. Following basic training, it was discovered all 4 friends were being stationed to Fort Richardson, Alaska together. He was honorably discharged in 1957. Following his time with the service, he built grain bins. On September 2nd, 1961, he married the love of his life, Janet Louise Pearson. Together they raised 2 children, Doneen and Maurey. In 1961, he worked for Bill Porter's Texaco, later working for Bill Porter's Bait

Farm. In the years following, he bought Seas Texaco, turning it to Al's Texaco. Following the sale of his business, he began working for Servall as a route driver. In 1975, he was promoted to Route Supervisor, relocating to Sioux Falls. He retired from Servall in 1998.

During Allens' life, he never missed an opportunity to spend time with friends and family. With his love for country western music, trips to Branson and Nashville were always cherished. In the fall, melodies of Conway, Lorretta and Merle could be heard on the radio while road hunting for pheasants. Saturdays he could be found with the card gang in Toronto, playing pinocle and enjoying a cold one. In between, he enjoyed quick bus trips, checking on his motorhome in Hendricks, traveling with grandkids, perfecting a new joke and mowing his lawn.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, Sioux Falls, SD; children, Doneen (Alan) Konold, Brandt, SD, Maurey Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; Sister-in- Law, Norma Johnson, Brookings, SD; grandchildren, Kayla (Phil) Fieber, Brandt, SD, Becky Konold, Brandt SD, Keith (Curstie) Konold, Brandt, SD; great-grandchildren, Kolten, Riley and Allie Fieber, Jase, Khloe and Laurel Konold. Many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at the Brandt Cemetery. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2pm, Saturday, August 16th, at the Brandt Community Center.
