With deep sorrow and immense love, we announce the passing of Allen Ray Massey, a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and beloved bonus dad to many, on September 30, 2025, at the age of 63. He was a longtime member of Sandy Hook Church of Christ.
Allen was the cherished son of the late Thomas “Buddy” Massey and Carolyn Massey.
He was more than a husband; he was a true partner in every sense of the word. Allen shared an unbreakable bond with his wife, Jan, a relationship built on love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they created a life centered on family, trust, and compassion.
As a father, Allen was gentle, soft-spoken, strong, and endlessly giving. He was a proud dad to his own children and an equally devoted bonus dad to those who came into his life through love. To each of them, he was a guiding light, a safe place, and a steady, loving presence. His heart was big enough to embrace many, and he loved each one with patience, kindness, and fierce devotion.
He married the love of his life Jan, on December 8, 1989 and together they built a beautiful life together.
Allen is survived by his loving wife, Jan Gibson Massey; his children, Brittany (JR) Cates, Devin (Sara) Massey, and Dylan Massey; and his treasured grandsons, Ayden Cates, Luke Massey, Colton Massey, along with bonus grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Melody (Michael Waldrop) Massey and David “Gomer” Massey; sister- and brother-in-law, Patti and Scotty Henson; nieces and nephews, Deanna (Jon) Mayle, Kaynon (Brittney) Henson, Kassidy (Michael) Johnson, Heather Watson, Ashley (Kyle) Carrier, and Justin (Nicole) Waldrum; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Allen’s bonus children, whom he loved as his own, include Sebastian (Chelsea) English, Caitlin (Ramey) Sullivan, Will (Nikki) Kittrell, and Devonte Webster.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Helen Massey, father in law: Riley Gibson Jr. and mother in law: Nettie Finerty Gibson
Honorary Pallbearers include Carl “Snag” Workman, Larry and Jacqueline Grandberry, Penny Cooper, David Powell, Tim and Mary Harris, McCanless Trucking, past employees of Armor Environmental, and current and former employees of VLS-Armor.

The family extends special thanks to Tennessee Oncology, sister-aunt-Nana: Lynn Lovett, and the staff of NHC Columbia for their compassionate care.
