Allen Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, Inc. - Columbus from Feb. 5 to Feb. 11, 2026.
Allen Dale Moore, a cherished soul known for his loving nature and zest for life, passed away on February 4, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on September 22, 1959, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Francis Allen and Betty Louise Garrison Moore. Allen's journey was marked by a profound dedication to service, a passion for the great outdoors, and an insatiable curiosity about the world and its history.

Allen's early years in Columbus made his family proud. A graduate of EAST High School, he excelled in track, and cross country. Allen was the first student from Columbus EAST to qualify for the regionals.

After high school, Allen answered the call of duty and served his country with distinction in Germany. Allen served 3 years active duty and 11 more in the reserves, with a total of 14 years serving his country. While stationed in Germany, Allen's love for culture and history began to broaden. His military service was a testament to his bravery, resilience, and unwavering patriotism.

Upon returning to civilian life, Allen's love for the outdoors became a central theme. He found solace and joy in hiking, an activity that allowed him to traverse and marvel at the beauty of nature.

In the kitchen, Allen was an experienced cook. He enjoyed working at Columbus Regional Hospital for 18 years there as a cook. The last few years Allen was employed at Walmart. He was loved by his co-workers and bosses.

Allen is survived by his loving companion of 28 years, Lynn Gall, his children, Johnny (Robbie Pittman) Bragg, Scotty (Amanda Cockerham) Bragg, Jennifer (Scott) Golden, Amanda (Mark) Bush, Brandy (Montell) Booker, Jessica (Jamaal) Haliburton; sibling, Peggy Moore, and William Moore; grandchildren, Andrew Golden, Dylan Golden, Shay Golden, Nyassia Booker, Taryn Booker, Marcus Booker, Jayonna Halliburton, Jessika Halliburton, Ciara Berger; great-grandchildren, Rylin Golden, Everliegh King, Catori King, Asharia Booker, and Nehamiah Booker.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Becky Moore, and newborn brother, David Lee Moore.
In keeping with Allen's wishes there will be no services for Allen.

It is with a saddened heart I hear of my cousin“s passing. Allen was 9 years younger so when Allen was competing for Columbus East in Track I was coaching Track at Shelbyville High School. It was always an enjoyable reunion . May God Test His soul!
