Allen Scott Quinn, age 82, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at his home.
Allen was born September 16, 1941 in Princeton, IL to Leo J. and Mildred L. (White) Quinn. He married Gail G. Volstad on March 19, 1977 in Henry and together they had two sons. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2012. He later married Connie (Chance) Swanson on September 17, 2016 in Henry, IL.
Surviving is his wife, Connie; his sons, Michael (Georgette) Quinn of Carlock, IL and Brian Quinn of Peoria, IL; his grandchildren, Gabrielle Brown of Winter Haven, FL and Theo Quinn of Carlock, IL; his stepson and stepdaughter; five step-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Quinn of Naples, Florida; his brother, James (Delores) Quinn of Henry, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gail; and his brother, Roger Quinn.
Allen served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He worked for AT&T Bell for 20 years and then worked in construction for over 30 years for LW Thomas and later for Western Specialty Contractors. After he retired, he worked part-time at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home for seven years. He was a member of the Peoria Casting Club, Barbershop Harmony Society, the Henry American Legion, the Henry Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Mohammed Shrine, the Royal Order of the Jesters and EL HAJJ #6. He was also an active member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Henry. Allen enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling in Northern Wisconsin and, when his boys were young, he was active with the Boy Scouts and IVC Marching Band.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Rev. Canessa Lagan will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home with Masonic services at 7pm. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial of ashes will follow the service on Friday at the Henry Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Al's name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Henry or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
