Allen Lee Retz

Allen Lee Retz went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 28th, 2024. Allen was born December 20th, 1964 to Alvin and Viola Retz at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN. Allen will always be remembered for his kind heart, love of the outdoors, and interest in poultry budding from his 8 years in 4-H as a child. Allen also enjoyed gardening, bicycling, bowling, and many card games with family and friends. 

He graduated with the Frazee High School Class of 1983 and went on to college at Bemidji State University majoring in Business and Teaching. Throughout his career, Allen performed financial auditing at banks in Frazee and Detroit Lakes and worked in retail for many years also managing hotels at the Holiday Inn, Thumber Pond, and Shooting Star Casino before his last position managing the Trading Post in Red Lake. 

 Allen is survived by his mother Viola Retz, sister Annette (Keith) Lehmann, his nieces and nephews Cody (Katie) Grindall, Brandon (Carrie) Grindall, and Aunna (Andy) Braton, great-nieces and nephews Stephanie, Dominic, Isabella, Brody, Lilly, Sierra, Serenity, Adley, Jace, and Axton. Allen is preceded in death by his father Alvin Retz, Great-grandma Lizzie, and several other family members who will be welcoming him home.

Services for Allen will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at Christian Fellowship Church in Detroit Lakes with a visitation at 10am and funeral service at 11am followed by a luncheon provided by the church family. Allen will be laid to rest at Senjen Cemetery in Rochert in the spring.
