Allen J. Scharenbroch of Manitowoc passed away on January 25, 2025 at the age of 89. Al was born to Raymond and Theresa (Braun) in Green Bay on May 11, 1935. He graduated from Valders High School and went on to serve in the US Air Force for four years. He married Mary Jane Baer in May of 1960. He retired in May of 1998 from Point Beach Nuclear Plant. Al enjoyed working on classic cars, gardening, and traveling.
Al is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; his sons Victor, Robert, and Jerry; grandchildren Catrina, Adison, Brian, Daniel, and Elena; siblings Grace (Pete) Moseler, Sally Wagner, Frank (June) Scharenbroch, Barbara Wiedemann; aunt Rosie; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Delores Naidl.
Visitation will be held at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Ave., Manitowoc, on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Matt Colle officiating. A procession will follow to Calvary Mausoleum for committal prayers and military honors accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731. A luncheon will then be held at Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water St. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Al's name are appreciated to disabled veterans of America, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
