Mrs. Allene Foley, age 93 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount, VA on Sunday, July 9, 2023. She was born in Patrick County on November 30, 1929, to the late James F. “Boss” Foley and Vada Sawyers Foley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene Foley; an infant son, Mark Foley; three sisters, Odean Thomas, Pauline Foley, and Jeraldine Thomas; and three brothers, Alvis Foley, Sr., Frank Foley, and Grady Foley. Allene was a longtime member of Church of God in Bassett. She was a devoted homemaker, raising gardens and canning each year sizable quantities for her large family. She loved the Lord and her family dearly; especially taking joy in being grandma to her grandchildren.
Left to cherish the memories of Allene Foley are her six children, Mike Foley, Barry Foley (Gabi), Jay Foley (Donna), Kennel Foley, Donna Greer (Kenneth), and Raena Greer (Carroll); thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three siblings, Lewis Foley, Nannie Bett Martin, and Brenda Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Allene Foley will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Josie Foley officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Elamsville Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 122, Woolwine, VA 24185 or to Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department, 6687 Fairystone Park Hwy., Stuart, VA 24171. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
