Allene Pinnix Helms

Allene Pinnix Helms, age 79 of Mathiston, MS, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday evening, March 20, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. Allene was born in Choctaw County, MS on January 29, 1946, to Charles Hastings Pinnix and Beulah Mae McMinn Pinnix. She was a homemaker, loving wife of 61 years and mother. Allene was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Mathiston, MS. She loved the Lord and her family but also enjoyed cooking, baking, cleaning her home and church, riding around with her husband, Mr. Jerry and enjoying serving in her church and community. Allene is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Jerry Helms, Mathiston, MS; one daughter, Leigh Ann (Tommy) Phelps, Mathiston, MS; one son, Michael Helms, Mathiston, MS; one sister, Charlie (Billy) Carpenter, Maben, MS; three brothers, Jimmy (Faye) Pinnix, Flowood, MS, Tommy Pinnix, Sturgis, MS and Archie Pinnix, Mathiston, MS; five grandchildren, Joshua (Elizabeth) Helms, Kayln (Chase) Jones, Candis Phelps, Cameron (Kenzee) Helms and Carley (Tucker) Hogue; fourteen great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kimberly, Bryleigh, Ryker, Alysa, Braxten, Hayden, Waverly, Stella, Adaline, Delilah, Shelby, Camden and Tristen; one great great grandchild, Cohen; life-long friends; Paul and Marion Roberson, Mathiston, MS and Patsy Clark, Yazoo City, MS and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Hastings Pinnix and Beulah Mae McMinn Pinnix; one sister, Catherine Street; one brother, Harvey Pinnix; two sister-in-laws, Kay Pinnix and Ann Pinnix; one brother-in-law, Earnest Street and several nephews. Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Allene will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, MS. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 1:00PM until time for services at 2:00PM at Oliver Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Spring Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Mathiston, MS. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Spring Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Don Parish and Rev. Shannon Edwards will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Charles Helms, Scott Helms, Steven Helms, Trent Helms, Wayne Yeatman and Mark Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Roberson, Ricky Breland, Kenny Griffin, Wayne Philley, Frank Keaton, Billy Carpenter and Ronnie McMinn. The family requests that Memorials for Mrs. Allene be made to Victory Baptist Church in Mathiston, MS.
