Life & Legacy
Mom graduated from Kilgore High School in 1952 and worked at Kilgore Hardware until she married, after which she devoted herself wholeheartedly to caring for her home and family. She was a tireless worker with remarkable strength-nothing was ever too hard or too much. If something needed doing, Mom did it, and she did it well.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Sundays were non-negotiable, and if the church doors were open, the family was there. Through Mom's intentional faithfulness, generations were given the opportunity to know Jesus-one of her greatest legacies.
Mom was a woman of quiet determination and leadership, becoming the first woman to serve on the White Oak School Board. She was also a devoted member of East Mountain Baptist Church, where she led the Women's Ministry for many years, serving with humility, compassion, and purpose.
Fishing was one of her great joys. If the crappie were biting, Mom and Dad were at the lake. As the grandchildren grew, they were loaded into the boat to share in the fun. Mom cleaned fish right alongside Dad and fried enough for anyone who happened by, always making extra to share with neighbors. Hospitality came naturally to her.
For the past eleven years while living at Buckner, Mom continued to do what she had always done-love people well. She spent countless hours on the porch with friends, joyfully wearing the titles "Queen of the Porch" and "Coffee Queen." She greeted everyone who came through the doors and could almost always be found with a cup of coffee in her hand throughout the day. Her warmth, welcome, and genuine joy made Buckner feel like home to so many.
And then there were the rolls. Mom's homemade rolls were legendary-an essential part of every Thanksgiving and Christmas gathering. As the family grew, the batches grew too, yet there were always enough. Just like her love.
Gratitude
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Memory Care staff at Buckner and Heart to Heart Hospice, whose compassion and dignity brought great comfort and peace. Because of you, her family rested knowing Mom was lovingly and faithfully cared for.

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise."
