During WWII she served in the Cadet Nurse Corps at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington,
KY. She attended the University of Kentucky and later graduated from Spalding University,
receiving a BSN while caring for a husband and three children. They were very cooperative in
assisting with household chores.
She met her husband, Dr. Edsel Reed, when he interned at Good Samaritan. They had 74
wonderful years together, having united in marriage on December 23, 1947.

Rogers Clark Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution when the members, with a
consultant from the Salt Lake City Mormon Library, recorded the 100 wills of Clark County,

produced seven bound volumes, which were placed in the Indiana Room of the Jeffersonville
Public Library, the Clarksville Library, and the Latter-Day Saints (LDS) Library in Salt Lake
City, Utah.
She had been historian of the Daughters of 1812 and Colonial Dames of America and the First
Baptist Church in
Jeffersonville, IN. She enjoyed genealogy, traveling with her husband and
family. The children always said they never missed stopping to read a roadside historical marker.
They visited every state in the United States. She and her husband visited 177 foreign countries
and all oceans. They flew around the world with favorite stops to see the Taj Mahal in Agra,
India, and walk on the Great Wall of China, as well as visit Xi'an to see the Terra Cotta Army of
Emperor Qin.
During the Bicentennial, she was President of the Indiana State Medical Auxiliary. She
