Alma Atkinson, 78, of Elkton, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at home under hospice care.
Alma was born January 4, 1943 in Winter Haven, Texas to the late Alberto and Guadelupe (Rodriguez) Sanchez. She graduated 1961 in the first graduating class from Laker High School. On October 12, 1963 she married Gerald Atkinson at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon.
She retired from Sunny Acres Nursing Home after 25 years as a secretary. She loved looking for a deal at garage sales, thrift stores and QVC. She enjoyed riding motorcycle and camping. Her happiest times were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Alma is survived by her husband Jerry; children Wendi (Jeremy) Huizar of Elkton; daughter-in-law Tina Atkinson of Kawkawlin; grandchildren Kelcey (Adam) Crawford, Jerry (Kaitlinn), Miguel (Courtney), Hunter Webber, Preston, Odin, Kalie, Angie (Bill) Passage, Ken (Tiffany) Heiden, and Beth (Glen) Owens; great-grandchildren Jordan, Kaylee, Payton, Lydia, Maverick, Serenity, Emerson, Elaina, Jaxx, Gracie, Ronnie, Talon, Kaden, Kaleb, Kennedy, Blake, Gage and Kylee; brother Albert Sanchez of Frankenmuth and sister Belia (John) Fraizer of Marlette. She was preceded in death by her son Darrin, sister Virginia Schumacher and brother Martin Sanchez.
A memorial service will be 11:00am Friday, September 3rd at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon. Friends and family may begin visiting an hour before the service.
