In Loving Memory of Alma Diaz 8/1/1949 – 7/27/2025

Mother. Sister. Wife. Abuela. Friend. Everyone's fun aunt.

Our beloved Alma – known to her grandkids as Lela – passed away on 7/27/2025 after putting up a courageous fight with cancer, wrapped in the same love she gave so generously throughout her life.

Her name, Alma, meant soul, and that's exactly what she was – the soul of our family and the heart of every gathering. Alma brought warmth, joy, and connection wherever she went. She made people feel seen, heard, and deeply loved.

She loved stories – telling then, hearing them, and most of all, sharing them with heart and soul. Whether it was family history or a funny thing one of the kids said, she found magic in the little details that made life sweet.

She cruised through life – literally - traveling with family, friends and anyone lucky enough to be along for the ride. Her adventures were full of laughter, love and probably a florecita (cookie) or two shared with her beloved Lo (husband) when they knew better (but enjoyed it anyway).

She adored her grandsons, was a devoted wife, a loving mother and had an endless love for all children. She lit up when they told stories, showed their sass, and grew into themselves. To them – and to so many others – she was everyone's Lela.

She didn't want a quiet mourning – she wanted joy, music and celebration. So lets give her that. Laugh. Share a story. Sneak a sweet treat. Hug someone tighter than usual. And carry Alma's spirit – her soul – with you always.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 3pm - 5pm at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, MD followed by light snacks at a nearby location. All are welcome to join us in honoring her beautiful life.

Alma loved yellow flowers – they remind her of sunshine and joy – but she also loved a good cause. In her honor, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at
