Robert (Bob) Craig Versis, age 67, of Gambrills, MD, passed away peacefully and far too soon on August 8, 2025. He is a beloved father, brother, uncle and friend.

Bob was born on August 12, 1957 in Washington DC, the second oldest of four children, to Bill & Mary Ellen Versis. From an early age his energy and sense of humor were evident. He spent his childhood in Silver Spring, MD graduating from Springbrook High School in 1975 and Towson University in 1981.

Bob's connection to law enforcement defined much of his life. His career began with the Metro Transit Authority in 1982. After 6 years his aspirations were much bigger and in 1988 he joined the Drug Enforcement Administration as a Federal Agent. After completing Diplomatic Language School, Bob moved to Florida, the first stop in his 16-year career with the DEA. In 1997 he transferred to the Bogota, Colombia Field Office where he spent 3 years before retuning to Baltimore to finish his time with the DEA in the Field Office there. Time with the Public Defender's Office followed and for the last 15 years Bob worked independently as a Private Investigator.

Bob's greatest joy was his family, and he leaves behind many who love him especially his sons Andrew and Nicholas, his siblings, Brian (Gerry), Jeff and Patti (Mark) as well his nephews and nieces, Nicholas, Christopher (Arianna), Kimberly, Nicole (Kris), Ryan and Christina. He is also survived by his beloved Doberman, Sheena and shih tzu Max. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and son Matthew.

Friends may visit Hardesty Funeral Home 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, MD, Thursday, August 14 from 2-4 or 6-8. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Friday, August 15 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1110 St. Stephen's Church Road, Crownsville, MD.

Bob's warmth, humor and unwavering love for his family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. So, it's not goodbye, just until we meet again.
