Alma Mae Hoyland

Alma Mae Hoyland, age 92, of New Castle, PA, peacefully passed away the early morning of Dec. 28, 2025, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born Aug. 29, 1933, in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Donald S. and Helmi (Whitman) Reid.

She married Robert W. Hoyland on Oct. 9, 1950. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2010.

Alma worked as an administrative assistant, with Midas Muffler. For most of her life, she was a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook, bake and especially enjoyed large family gatherings during the holiday. She enjoyed bird watching and volunteered for Meals on Wheels in both Pennsylvania and Florida. Alma was also a lifetime member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian church.

Survivors include two sons Robert E. (Carol) Hoyland of Tampa, FL and Richard R. Hoyland of Seven Fields, PA; three daughters, Barbara (Lee) Reichbaum of Pittsburgh, PA, Marrianne (John) Knorr of New Castle, PA and Beth Ann Hoyland of Cranberry Twp, PA. 14 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by three sisters, Phyllis Haney, Donna Donatelli and Beverly Kay; one brother James Reid; one daughter Brenda Vater; three grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

The love she gave to all had no limits and included nearly everyone she had ever met. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her dialysis family at Fresenius Kidney Care for their love and support.

In honoring Alma's wishes there will be no services at this time.
