Alma Sue Kirby, 81, of Bolivar, departed this life on Friday, February 21, 2025, at her home. The widow of Mr. Lloyd Ray Kirby, who passed on July 13, 2017, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Fannie Nelms and lived all her life in Hardeman County.
A homemaker, who dearly loved all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she spent many happy days in the company of her pet dog, Missy May May. She liked staying in touch with her family and friends via her phone and, was always interested in the "goings-on" of her favorite soap operas.
She leaves a son, Franklin Kirby and his wife, Charley, of Toone; a daughter Peggy Kirby and her companion, Jeff Edwards, of Bolivar; special daughters, Melissa Mardis of Toone and Laverne Vandiver of Selmer; a brother, Calvin Nelms of Texas; six grandchildren, Christy Murphy, Amber, Tyler and Zack Kirby, Hailey Roberts and Lela Mardis; three great-grandchildren, Abby Owen, Freida Murphy and Christopher Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randall Ray Kirby; daughter-in-law, Lola Faye Kirby; and four sisters and brothers, Elizabeth and Martha Tillmon and, William and James Neal Nelms.
Memorials may be sent to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN.
