Alma J. Moore

Alma J. Moore, age 62 of Stow, Ohio entered into God's eternal rest on March 7th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Alma was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, whose kindness, wisdom, and dedication to education left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Born on October 19th, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio Alma devoted her life to her faith in Jesus Christ as well as learning and helping others grow. She earned her undergraduate BA degree from Baldwin Wallace College in 1984, an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College in 1999, a master's degree in Education- Clinical Counseling from Malone College in 2004, and ultimately a Ph.D. in Counseling Education from Kent State University in 2019. Her passion for knowledge and her commitment to shaping the lives of students and colleagues alike was truly inspiring.
Beyond her academic achievements, Alma was known for her caring heart, passion for sports, her love of cats and Barry Manilow, and of course her amazing faith. She was a member of Word of God Community Church in Canton, Ohio for over 20 years and found immense joy in teaching the Senior High Sunday School class. Outside of work and church Alma spent her time being a friend and mentor to many. She touched countless lives through her time spent at universities over the years both as a student and a teacher, as well as through the relationships she had with many friends that became like family.
Alma is survived by siblings Merless, Frank, Darryl, Raymond and Charles as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will forever cherish her memory and the loving guidance she imparted. She is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Jane Margaret, and her siblings Shelton, Jimmy and Willie.
A celebration of Alma's life will be held on March 17th at Heritage Reformed Baptist Church, 5715 Market Ave N., Canton OH 44721. The wake will begin at 10:00 am with the funeral to follow at 11:00 am with Dr. Lloyd D. Kinlow officiating. Alma J. Moore's faith, love, wisdom, and dedication to lifelong learning will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
