Lawrence Clark Buchanan

Lawrence "Larry" Clark Buchanan, age 90, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. He was born January 13, 1936, in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, to the late Albert and Winifred Buchanan.

Larry was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent 38 years employed at The Hoover Company in North Canton, Ohio, retiring in 2000. In addition to his career, he faithfully served his church and community. For more than 30 years, Larry served as the Music Director at Grace Baptist Church in Canton, Ohio. He also served as a deacon and, following his retirement, continued his service on the church's buildings and grounds committee.

Larry enjoyed a full and meaningful life centered on faith, family, and fellowship. He loved reading, vacationing at the beach, working in his yard, and spending time with and caring for his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than being with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Lee Buchanan (née Whitehead); his children, Ronald Buchanan (Cheryl) of Alliance, Ohio, Debbie Sisler of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Rhonda Carmel (Mike) of Canal Winchester, Ohio.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jaime Parker (Scott) of Alliance, Ohio; Ronald Buchanan Jr. (Becky) of Navarre, Ohio; Jennifer Sisler Guyton (Aaron) of Spring Hope, North Carolina; Katie Crosby (Kevin) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Tana Byrum (Matt) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and Megan Carmel of Columbus, Ohio. He was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Larry is further survived by his sisters, Peggy Craig (Bob) of El Paso, Texas, and Kathy Pflug (Rolly) of Greer, South Carolina; and sisters-in-law Ruth Ann Buchanan of Lakeview, New York, and Mary Virginia Buchanan of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert Buchanan, Dick Buchanan, Jim Buchanan, and John Buchanan; his sisters, Marjorie Johnson and Winnie Johnson; and his son-in-law, Philip Sisler.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Grace Baptist Church, 5050 Middlebranch Avenue NE, Canton, Ohio 44705, visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church in Larry's memory.
