Daniel DeCato Obituary

Visit the Schneeberger-Oser Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.
Daniel Michael DeCato, a courageous, dedicated, and charismatic man, passed away on March 7, 2026. Born on October 26, 1947, in Canton, Ohio, Daniel spent his entire life in the city he loved, imbuing it with vibrancy through his gregarious personality and steadfast commitment to his work and passions.

Daniel was a man of duty and dedication, serving bravely in the Vietnam War, earning multiple heroic commendations. After his service, he utilized his skills as a Diesel Mechanic, diligently working for the City of Canton until his retirement. His dedication, however, was not limited to his occupation. Daniel was an avid golfer, a member of the Corvette Club, and a devoted fan of Westerns and the Three Stooges. His charisma and zest for life were infectious, and he had a knack for making those around him feel welcome and cherished.

Despite never marrying, Daniel was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sharon Smith. He was also the cherished son of John and Rose DeCato and the adored brother of Carol Lutsch and Jo Price. Daniel was a beloved uncle to his nieces Antoinette Spencer, Sandra Levy, and the late Rose Price. He was also a treasured great-uncle to Katrina Jones, Jessica Whitlow, and the late Rachel Waikem.

Daniel's life and legacy will be commemorated with a Graveside Service with Military Honors on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm EDT at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 2698 Broadway Avenue Northeast, Louisville, Ohio, 44641.
