Born in Paterson, Lisa had resided in Elmwood Park since 2012. Lisa had a life-long fondness for jewelry, and an affinity for hard rock and heavy metal music, even meeting and taking a photo with her favorite rock icon Ozzy Osborne. Lisa had a spirit that was loved by all, but especially by her long-time partner Joe Kopko whose final message to Lisa reads, "Lisa, you are the one and only love of my life. I miss you every single day. No matter where I go or what I do, you will always be in my heart. Rest in peace my darling. Love, Joe."
Lisa was the beloved daughter of Sharon (Gorman) Buis and the late Andrew Buis, Jr. (2025). Loving niece of Jo-Ann Laubach of Cedar Grove, N.J.. Loving sister of Magie Trinidad and her husband Mike of Bethlehem, PA, Heather DeCato of West Milford, N.J.. Dear Aunt of Julie Warner, and of course longtime partner of Joe Kopko of Elmwood Park.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:30pm.
A graveside committal service of ashes will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 52 Totowa Road, Totowa.
In addition to flowers, memorial donations may be made in loving memory of Lisa to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation at https://msfocus.org/Home.aspx.
