Born Saturday, November 20, 1976 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Melvin C. Brown and Brenda Sue Campbell Fowlkes. She was raised by Dr. James R. Coates Jr. and Frances Coates.
She is survived by her husband, John Thomas Shields Jr.; five daughters, Precious Paradise Wright, Kimberly Marie Wright, Christina Star Shields, Layla Anne Fockler, and Asia Rayanne Shields; three sons, Isaiah Thomas Shields, Joshua Thomas Shields, and Anthony Thomas Shields; sister, Jane Ellen Campbell; two sister-in-laws, Lauren Campbell and Rachel Coates; two brothers, Michael Ray Campbell and James R. Coates, III; brother-in-law Donald Cline; grandchildren, Kamryn and Naima and one more on the way; nieces and nephews, Maraya, Nylah, Jayla, Kamdyn, Markell, Raelyn, Brianna, Ayla, and Parker; a bonus niece, A'shiyah; and adoptive grandmother Florence E. Coates.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jelejandra.
Services will be held private.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
