Mr.. Alois Frank Pelzel

Alois Frank Pelzel the legendary barber of Pilot Point, TX, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Gunter, TX on February 16, 1935, to Joseph Pelzel and Angela Schilling Pelzel. He married Virginia David on November 24, 1962, in Pilot Point. They celebrated over 63 years of marriage together. Alois was a man who touched many lives being a barber for 55 years. You could sit in his Big Green Chair and hear a myriad of stories. He loved polka music, dancing, and singing. He was always up for a good time. Alois served as an usher at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Pilot Point. Alois was a big supporter and fan of the Pilot Point Bearcats. He never missed a homecoming parade and attended all games when his sons were active players. Big Al stole the show with his wit and humor at the pep rallies. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Marie Pelzel; parents, Joseph and Angela; and brothers, Carl, Joe, and Earnest; and sister, Rosina Pelzel Felderhoff. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Pelzel; two sons, Greg Pelzel and significant other Shirley, and Glen Pelzel and wife Sandy; seven grandchildren, Gretchen Counts and husband Dustin, Katie Rogers and husband Tyler, Taylor Medler, Chase Medler and wife Bailey, Billy Self and wife Jessica, Cindy Matlock and husband James, and Chad Tempel and wife Merry; ten great-grandchildren, Copeland and Keeland Counts, Aullie Rogers, Jasmine Matlock, Carson Tempel, Madison Norton, Braxton Self, and Jackson, Tripp, and Tyson DeJernett. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Capital Campaign. Food donations can be delivered to the St. Thomas Parish Hall before the funeral mass. A rosary with visitation following will be held 5:00PM-7:30PM, Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM, Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Pilot Point, TX with Fr. Jason Allan officiating.
