Whitinsville- Alphege J. "Al" Lozier Jr., 92, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 with his children by his side. He was predeceased by his first wife Christina Casey, of 35 years and was recently predeceased by his second wife of 30 years, Ida M. (Bechard) Lozier in February.
He is survived by his 5 children, Christina Valarose and her husband Clifton of Winchendon, Karen Scott and her husband Brian of Whitinsville, Elizabeth Korteling and her husband Bruce of Oakham, James Lozier and his wife Kelly of Whitinsville, and Kimberly Geeza of Winchendon; his step-son Eric Gregoire and his wife Karen of Bradford, NH; 7 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Isabelle Kmiotek and Raymond Lozier.
Born in Whitinsville on May 5, 1932, the son of Alphege Sr. and Florida (Vandal) Lozier a lifelong resident of Whitinsville. He graduated from Northbridge High School soon after, enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, serving as a Corporal. Al worked as a brick mason and maintenance mechanic for Wyman Gordon in Grafton for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1997.
Al was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 2285, the Dudley Gendron, and the American Legion Post 414 in Sutton. Al was a Boy scout Leader for Troop 145 in Rockdale for nearly 25 years, and was an umpire and coach with Rockdale's little league program. He was a selfless man, who donated blood platelets for many years, he gave to every charity involving children.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards. He loved to help people and would give the shirt off his back for anyone. He was a great man, with a kind heart and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
His funeral home service will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 11 AM in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville. Memorial calling hours will be held prior to the service from 9:30–11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitinsville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
