Alphonse Joseph Lind, Jr., age 78, of Diamondhead, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
A native of Pass Christian, Mr. Lind had made Diamondhead his home. He was an Army veteran serving his country from 1969 to 1974 and recipient of The National Defense Service medal. He was employed by the Gulfport Veterans Administration Hospital. Alphonse enjoyed fishing, particularly floundering, collecting sports cards, and everything about Mardi Gras.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luvenia M. and Alphonse J. Lind, Sr.; his sisters, Aline Gilbert, Gracie Allen, Vernette Rollison, Adelle Hayden, and Betty Lind. Alphonse leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Alphonse J. Lind III; many nieces and nephews, especially Lindsey Lind Richard, Meghan Lind, and Michael Lind (Felicia); and great niece, Mary Grace Lind; sisters, Gloria Gilbert, Bernadette Jones; one brother, Michael Lind; and his goddaughter, Dawn Luxich.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and Equal Steps Veterans Home of Long Beach for the kindness and compassion shown to Alphonse. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Marine Corp League in Diamondhead in honor of Alphonse.
