Alphonse Alvin "Al" Lowe Jr.

Alphonse Alvin "Al" Lowe, Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully at his home on December 13, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on December 4, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Al was the son of the late Alphonse Alvin Lowe, Sr. and Esther Mae Casteix Lowe. He was raised in Jefferson, in an area locals fondly called "Cow Sh*t Alley."

For more than 50 years, Al owned and operated Lowe's Auto Service and Al Lowe's Radiator Shop in Old Jefferson, where he became a trusted presence and friend to many in the community.

Al loved adventure and the outdoors. He enjoyed motorcycles and dirt bikes, hunting, racing cars and boats, fishing at his camp in Empire, feeding his goats in Slidell, morning breakfasts with friends, and taking long drives just to eat dinner out of town. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, generosity, and the knowledge he freely shared.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Beam Lowe; his son, Alphonse Alvin Lowe III; his sisters, Carol Ann Hull and Mae Jean Najiola; and his son-in-law, Brandon Lyons.

Al is survived by his brother, Daryl Lowe; his children, Lori Lowe Scott (Gary), Tory Lowe (Heidi), and Michelle Lowe Lyons; his grandchildren, Artemis Lowe, Dylan Scott, Al, Nicholas, and Brandon Lowe, and Brandon and Seth Lyons; and his great-grandchildren, Devin, Alex, and Nathan Lowe, along with additional great and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana, on Friday, December 26, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by Mass at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery on Canal Blvd.
