Alphonse Rochon

With the charisma of a rock star and the humor of a stand-up comedian, Alphonse Luciano Rochon, known to us as Fonz, embarked on his eternal journey on March 1, 2026. Born on February 28, 1981, in Camden, NJ, Alphonse made it a point to prove that a leap year baby could still keep up with the rest of the crowd, and boy, did he ever! He spent 45 unforgettable years among us, making every moment count with his loving nature, creative spirit, and an unforgettable sense of humor.

Alphonse was never one to follow the crowd. While others were busy chasing careers and titles, Alphonse decided to be the CEO of his life. He was never employed in the traditional sense, but he created a life that was filled with joy, laughter, and love. He was the quintessential free spirit, always ready with a wisecrack or a prank, and was always the life of any gathering. Alphonse's hobbies included basketball and football, but not in the usual way. He said he played not to win, but to make people laugh with his antics – and laugh they did!

Alphonse had a list of things he loved: friends, family, food, travel, and looks. He loved his family with a passion that was as fiery as his sense of humor. His sisters Latonya Rochon, Tracey Booker, Tieshau Middlebrooks, Teresa Villalobos, and his brother Erick Riley, will remember him as a loving and caring brother. His mother, Joan Riley, will remember him as a son who never failed to bring a smile to her face. Alphonse was preceded in death by his father, Alphonso Sr., and grandmother Teresa Rochon, who undoubtedly awaited his arrival in the afterlife with a hearty laugh and a welcoming embrace. He also left behind a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Alphonse was a devout Catholic, and his favorite verse was from Psalm 23: "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff-they comfort me." This verse exemplified his indomitable spirit and his unwavering faith. Alphonse's memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 351 High Street, Westville, New Jersey, 08093.
