Alta Louise Allen, 92, of South Hutchinson, died March 27, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village. She was born on December 10, 1932, in Colorado Springs, CO, to Cecil and Irene (Louthon) Shaff.
Alta was a 1950 graduate of Hutchinson High School. She enjoyed crafting, cross-stitching, collecting vintage Christmas cards to make crafts, and creating games for her grandchildren. Alta had a sweet-tooth and enjoyed all kinds of desserts. She was known to love jokes and had an underlying humor about her. Alta's most cherished memories were spent with her family. She was a member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church for over 75 years. Alta participated in many church activities and groups throughout the years.
On August 6, 1950, she married John W. Allen, in South Hutchinson. Together they shared over 63 years of marriage, prior to his death on March 18, 2014.
She is survived by: her children, Tracy (Barbie) Allen of South Hutchinson, Kathleen Keffer of Hutchinson; daughter in-law, Robin Allen of Leawood; grandchildren, Amber (Marcus) Wright of Norman, OK, Steven Dauber of Buhler, Abby (Tyler) Hicks of Kansas City, KS, Kendra (Shane) Hughes of Leawood, Austin (fiancée Gina Perry) Allen of Mount Hope; and great-grandchildren, Allyson and Camden Wright of Norman, OK, Wyatt and Emmett Dauber of Buhler, Maddox and Keira Hughes of Leawood, and Nolan and Carly Hicks of Kansas City, KS.
Alta was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, John W. Allen; son, Jeffrey Allen; grandson John Michael Allen; and sister, Betty Tucker.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2025, in Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave, Hutchinson. Family will greet friends, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village, or Gentiva Hospice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
