Alta Dailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home on Feb. 16, 2026.
Alta B. Dailey (Yeomans), age 90 passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at the Copley Nursing Home in Stoughton. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts, Alta spent her lifetime as a proud resident of Canton embracing the community she loved.

Alta's life was one of dedication and love, especially when it came to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. "Skippy" Dailey. Alta was a devoted mother to Joseph J. Dailey Jr. and his wife Jeannette of Stoughton. Sister of Joyce Adams and her late husband Buddy Adams of Holliston. She was a dear sister-in-law to Jill Gross of Canton and brother-in-law Bill Dailey of Norwood and mother to devoted foster son Mark Butler and his wife Sue of Easton. Loving grandsons Brendan Dailey of Taunton and Kyle Dailey and his wife Sarah of Easton and her most precious great-grandchildren, Connor and Cameron Dailey, who will carry forward her spirit of joy and kindness. She also leaves many faithful life long friends and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alta was a proud graduate of Canton High School, and her love for her hometown remained a constant throughout her life. She dedicated many years of service as a Switchboard Operator for New England Telephone and a Receptionist at Merket Enterprises in Canton.

She found joy in the thrill of the casino, the camaraderie of a good card game, and the adventures of travel and cruising to new destinations. Alta also cherished her time spent at the American Legion Post 24 in Canton, where her late husband Skippy was the Commander.

Relatives and friends invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Church, Canton, Thursday February 19th at 11:00 am. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday morning prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Burial will be private.
