Altha M. (Thompson) Lone, 80, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Born on December 10, 1944, to Tony and Mae (Humphrey) Thompson, Altha lived a life rich in love, faith, and cherished memories.
A devoted woman of faith, Altha found great joy in attending church and believed in the power of prayer. Her unwavering devotion was mirrored in her warm and inviting home, where walls were covered with family photographs from floor to ceiling. Altha was particularly fond of thrift shopping, with Goodwill and The Wishing Well being among her favorite places to discover treasures.
Altha was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Lone, and her loving parents. She is survived by her children, Chreighton Criswell, Jr. and his wife April; Altha "Gayle" Melead and her husband Michael; Lena "Robin" Booth and her husband Mike; and Julie "Dale" Barrios and her husband Enrique. She is also survived by her sisters, Lena Yeager and Ruth Howard (Arthur); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Altha will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial to take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Elizabeth, Indiana.
