Linda Jean "Grammie" Lone

Linda Lone, 81, of rural Augusta, was united with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in her heavenly home and reunited with loving family members who have gone before her. Linda passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of Saturday, May 10, 2025, in the loving care of her devoted husband and family. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a dear friend to many.

Linda was born on October 26, 1943, on her grandparent's family farm Bert and Evelyn Stubbe in Trempealeau County near Osseo, Wisconsin, the daughter of Etheleen (Stubbe) Gran. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Congregational Church in Osseo and attended Osseo grade school and high school.

After completing her education, Linda worked as a nanny in Cadott for a local doctor and his family. On July 9, 1960, she was united in marriage to the love of her life Dale Lone at her home church in Osseo. During the first 5 years of their marriage, Linda and Dale lived in Augusta, Osseo, and Black River Falls, before relocating to Janesville for Dale's new career. In 1971, they purchased a home in Edgerton, where she worked for Edgerton Lamp and Shade Company, and later for Edgerton Hospital and Clinics. After retirement Dale and Linda moved back to Augusta in 1999 to Dale's family homestead.

Linda was proud to be the wife of Dale Lone and her greatest achievement was to become a mother who dedicated much of her life to raising her children, Angie, and Phil, whom she loved and was so proud of. Later in life her greatest joy was becoming a proud grandmother, and she was affectionately known as 'Grammie' by her grandchildren, they were the light of her life, she loved them dearly and she embraced every moment spent with them. The beautiful memories made, she cherished they were special, and each grandchild will have these special memories to cherish forever.

Linda had a deep love for life and simple joys it brought. She was an enthusiastic gardener creating beautiful perennial, flower, and vegetable gardens. The vegetable gardens for canning/freezing often grown in large plots of land that Dale tilled for her along with the help of their children managed. Linda also raised chickens for eggs, keeping a henhouse full of birds she affectionately named, and as well as few pet ducks. She was known for her exceptional cooking and baking, always welcoming family, and friends to the table with hearty meals and delicious desserts or sweet treats.

Linda found great peace in birds watching at her and Dale's bird sanctuary they created at their rural home, countryside rides, and fishing! She especially loved fishing for perch, blue gills and crappies across Wisconsin. Linda enjoyed all her fishing trips throughout the state with family members through the years, especially her memorable trip to Canada, 'Big Arb Lake' when camping at Arbor Vitae, and Eau Claire Lake.

In quieter moments, Linda found peace and purpose in crocheting, crafts, sewing, puzzles, and reading, especially the Bible. These pastimes brought her enjoyment, satisfaction and filled her home with both comfort and creativity.

Linda's faith in her Lord and Savior was the foundation of her life. During her years in Janesville and Edgerton, she and her family were members of the Free Methodist Church in Janesville where she was an active member. Linda was a devoted Sunday School and Bible School teacher who loved to teach the children about the story of Jesus and becoming a Christian. After moving back to Augusta, she became an active member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta.

Linda will be dearly missed by Dale her husband of 64+ years; daughter, Angela Rowin-Tippit; son, Philip (Janelle) Lone; four grandchildren: Elisha Lone (Sean Tompkins), Jarrett Lone, Elliana Lone, and Brodie Lone; three great-grandchildren: Haley, Kaydence, and Cole; brother Spencer (Bonnie) Andrus of Strum; and sisters-in-law, Joanne Quilling and Ione Lone both of Augusta; and many nieces (especially special bloodline nieces), nephews; and Grand Pup…Louie Tippit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Etheleen Gran; stepfather Vernon Gran; and sons-in-law, Daniel Rowin and Timothy Tippit. She was also preceded by her siblings: Bonnie Jean (in infancy), Steven Andrus, Bonita (Bonnie) Becker, Cheryl Hebert, Keith Andrus, stepbrother David Gran; father and mother-in-law, Leonard, and Lillian Lone; brothers and sister-in-law, Gordon and Arlys Lone and John Lone.

Linda's life was a beautiful testimony of love, faith, devotion, and grace. She will be dearly cherished and remembered for her gentle spirit, strong faith, generosity, kindness, and the deep love she shared with her family, friends and others.
