Open the Gates, Lord...Your Daughter Is Coming Home
Altha Irene McCormick passed peacefully from this world at her home, just as she wished. Born on March 4, 1937, to Raymond and Orene Kellar, Altha grew up surrounded by love alongside her siblings: R.L. Kellar, Olan Kellar, Clinton Kellar, Ollie Woodman, and Dollie Simmons. She now reunites with her brother Clay and sisters Winnie and Joann, who passed in infancy.
Altha looked forward to being reunited not only with family, but with many dear friends who held a special place in her heart.
In 1953, Altha met and married James McCormick in Lockney, Texas. Together, they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2010. Their family grew with the arrival of their son, J.R. (Kim) McCormick, and daughter, Carolyn (Bill) Patton, both of Eastland. Altha's legacy continued with four grandchildren who lovingly called her Grandma, nine greatgrandchildren who knew her as Granny Goat, and seven great-great-grandchildren who called her Graham Cracker. She was also blessed with a bonus family of two more grandchildren, six more great-grandchildren, and seven more great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved as her own.
Altha spent her days tending her home and yard, always finding beauty in things others might discard. She delighted in attracting red birds to her garden and was an avid seamstress, creating everything from dresses for her daughter to square dance outfits for herself and matching shirts for James, even sewing her daughter's wedding dress and reupholstering furniture.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, and her beloved husband.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Solaris Healthcare for the care, love, and laughter they shared with Mom. She cherished each of your visits and held you close in her heart.
Pallbearers will be: Bryan Kellar, Raymond Lewis, Ricky Patton, Lucas Arnold, Jayden Pierce and Brenton Struck.
Funeral services for Altha will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 10:00am at Edwards Funeral Home-Eastland, officated by Randy Beggs. Interment will follow at Eastland City Cemetery. Family visitation will be on Monday, October 13, 2025 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home.
What an honor it has been for me to call my best friend "Mom," and for my best friend to call me "daughter." The bond we shared was truly a gift, and I will forever cherish the love, laughter, and friendship we had.
