Althea Elizabeth (Garabrant) Cooper, 96, wife of the late George F. Cooper II, passed away on Tuesday, January 24 in the comfort of her home.
Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late William and Mable (Bolander) Garabrant.
Althea grew up in Allentown and loved reminiscing about her childhood. She worked at Philco-Ford in Lansdale for 17 years. She loved dancing and would go to The Gabelsville Athletic Association, SunnyBrook Ballroom in Pottstown and the Boyertown American Legion. She loved her friends that she would be so excited to see at the dances every Sunday night which continued into her 90's. She had an incredible love for dogs, especially her Tinkerbell, and her enormous collection of stuffed animals. She enjoyed long car rides in her T-Bird, and always stopping at one of her favorite diners on the way back.
Surviving is her partner for the last 15 years, Daniel Haring, Stepdaughter Lynne Manero; grandchildren Dawn Hager, Tara McAllister and Tina Casani; great grandchildren P.J., Casey, Matthew, Megan, Alyssa, Riley, Noah, Aubrey, Kayla, and Vanessa. Along with her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her stepdaughter Janet Frederick.
Visitation will be Monday, January 30 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale with a funeral service to start at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Althea's name to Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E. Ridge Pike, PO Box 222, Conshohocken, PA 19428-0222.
