Alton Murrell Barton Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and esteemed member of his community, passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on March 31, 1939, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Alton was a man of integrity and dedication, whose life journey left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Alton was the son of Alton Murrell Barton Sr. and Edna Lorene Edens, affectionately known as Lorene Barton. He spent his formative years in Little Rock, where he nurtured a profound love for technology and exploration, leading him to a distinguished career as an Aerospace Engineer at Vought Aerospace. His technical skills and meticulous attention to detail earned him respect in his field and among his colleagues.

In addition to his professional achievements, Alton served his country with honor in the military. He was an Airman First Class in the U.S. Air Force and held additional ranks in the Air National Guard and Army National Guard, where he achieved the rank of Specialist 4. His service exemplified his commitment to duty and sacrifice.

Alton was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Whitney, where he shared his faith and values with others. His involvement in the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) as a longtime member spoke to his passion for ham radio operating, a hobby that brought him joy and a sense of community among fellow enthusiasts.

Alton is survived by his children: Starr Gulledge and her husband, Chuck, of Weatherford, TX; Angel Williams and her husband, Steve, of Cookesville, TN; Dawn Vincent and her husband, Mark, of Corinth, TX; Corey Barton and his wife, Shanna, of Bedford, TX; his step-daughter, Keela Narramore and her husband, James, of Granbury, TX; and his sisters, Reti Barton Kilgore Mailes of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Linda Coonts and Joye Collins, both of Jasper, Arkansas. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Alton cherished his time spent with family, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Janet Barton, and his parents. The memories of Alton's kindness, laughter, and wisdom will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.

A burial service will be held on November 14, 2025, at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, Texas, starting at 10:00 AM, with the service concluding at 11:00 AM. Alton's life was filled with moments of joy and service, and he will be remembered with respect and fondness by all who had the honor to share in his journey.
