Cochran – Alton James Yon, age 79, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Alton was born on August 2, 1945, in Jamestown, on the island of Saint Helena, located in the South Atlantic Ocean. He was the son of the late Harry and Ama Yon. He was preceded in death by his son, Glenn Yon; his grandson, Matthew Bugg; his siblings, Cynthia Burn and Percy Yon. Mr. Alton spent his childhood on Saint Helena. After he graduated from high school, he began work as an electrician for Pan Am on Ascension Island and in Liberia. After the dissolution of Pan Am in 1991, he worked as an electrician for Computer Science Raytheon or CSR for many years in Antigua until his retirement. Mr. Alton received multiple awards for his work with Pan Am and CSR. He later moved and resided in Port St. John, FL. He loved his music, especially Elvis, Johnny Cash and Charlie Pride and he had a vast music collection.
Mr. Alton will be greatly missed by his family here and back in St. Helena and the many friends he impacted through the years, especially those in his "range rat" group.
Survivors are his daughter, Nikki (Ken) Moore; his grandson, Justin Bugg; his great-grandchild, Aubrey Bugg; his siblings, Ralph Yon, Vilma Hoskins and Frederica (Donald) Youde and numerous nieces and nephews.
