Alva V. Silva, 84, of Wheatfield, passed away March 11, 2026, with her loving family around her.
On September 14, 1941, Alva was born to Rafael and Petra (Cantu) Mendoza, in Hebbronville, Texas. Alva married the love of her life, Jose Silva Jr. on October 17, 1964, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, in Hammond, Indiana, who precedes her. She worked as an x-ray technician at St. Margaret’s Hospital. Alva loved to crochet, and spend time in the garden.
Alva is survived by her children: Joe (Lola) Silva, Nelida (Tim) Smar, Ricardo (Betty) Silva, Julie (Rob) Voigt, 22 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and brothers:: Adalberto, and Cayetano.
Alva was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Jose Silva Jr., grandson: Ricardo Silva Jr., great-grandson: Rocky McFarlin, and siblings: Francisco, Rafael, Arnoldo, Benjamin, Ismael, Eva, Ercilia, and Maria.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
