Alvah "Charles" Valcore, Jr., 73, of Speaker Township, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at home with family by his side.
He was born in Brown City on November 14, 1950, the son of the late Alvah and Ethel (Swoffer) Valcore.
Charles graduated from Memphis High School in 1970. His marriage to Emily Harshman was February 14, 1975 in Port Huron. Charles retired in 2008, after 38 years of employment for Black and Decker as a machinist. He enjoyed camping and being outdoors in nature. Charles loved spending time with family most of all and playing cards. He was known for having family collect tin cans for his hobby of making tin men and animals. Recently, he enjoyed diamond art paintings.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Emily; children, Arthur and Beth Valcore and Dawn and Chad Rector; grandchildren Abigail, Alysha, Arthur Jr. and Charles Valcore, Zachary and Ryan Rector; great grandson, Dewey McKim; brother, Harry Valcore. He is also survived by the Harshman family, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Charles is predeceased by his parents, Alvah Valcore Sr. and Ethel Swoffer and foster father, Arthur Ploeger; four half brothers, Harold Peters, Chester Peuterbaugh, Bruce Peuterbaugh and George Brosky.
The family honors the memory of Charles and invites you to visit and share memories Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with 10:00 a.m. visiting at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Pastor Lisa Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Elk Township Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude or Wishes of the Family.
