Alverta Thrush, 96, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at The Church of God Home.
Born October 15, 1928 in Newville, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Grace (Chestnut) Barrick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, daughter Arlene, grandson Shane Ford and son-in-law Russell Ford.
Alverta is survived by her four daughters: Paula Sheffer, Sharon Gensler (Steve), Joann Ford and Kathy Alwood (Richard); her three granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
She loved children of all ages and babysat many during her lifetime.
Alverta enjoyed traveling with Albert on their Honda Goldwing and would even fall asleep on the back of it. She also enjoyed playing cards and reading adventure novels and even more than that, she loved baking her delicious chocolate chip cookies and the family loved eating them.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service 12:00 pm Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, where the family will greet guests after 11:00 am prior to the service.
Interment will follow the service in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville.
