Alvin "Al" Berkompas

Corporal Alvin L. Berkompas, born in Los Angeles, California on September 25, 1930, went to be with his Lord on May 12, 2024. He served in the Army during the Korean War after graduating from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a longtime resident of Redlands moving his family back to California in 1966. He was an active member of The River Christian Reformed Church serving in many different areas of the church. He taught junior high at Redlands Christian School for 16 years and helped develop a junior high athletic league that included other Christian schools in the area. He went into real estate in 1982 and was a realtor in the Redlands area for 26 years before retiring in 2008. He is survived by his children Joy (Gary), Jim (Sue), and Gwen (Vern). He had 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at The River CRC located at 459 E. Highland Avenue in Redlands. He will be interred with military honors at Riverside National Cemetery privately.
