Mr. Alvin York Carter, 89, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday morning, December 17, 2024 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of the late Hesper and Dovie Hembree Carter born October 16, 1935 at Trosper.
Alvin was a former truck driver and a member of the Church of Christ at Lily. He valued making new connections with people and talking to others. He found joy walking his dog and believed in the importance of exercising. Alvin was also a tinkerer and was always working on or fixing his latest project.
On August 29, 1959 he united in marriage with Wanda Lee Brown and to this union two sons were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ebb George and Irene Carter and Howard and Betty Carter.
Survivors include his loving wife, Wanda Lee Carter of Barbourville; sons, Tom Carter and wife, Renee, of Cleveland, OH and Tim Carter and wife, Lyn, of Barbourville; sister, Betty Fitts and husband, Cecil, of Cross Plains, TN; brothers, Don Carter and wife, Bernice, of Artemus and Julius Carter and wife, Lyvonne, of Brunswick, OH; cherished grandchildren, Ryan Carter and wife, Jillian, Samantha Mueller and husband, Mike, Jessica Koch and husband, Joe, and Sarah Carter-Hayes and husband, Derek; great-grandchildren, Silas Carter, Morgan Mueller, Noah Mueller and Koa Koch; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 4 P.M.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday, January 4, 2025 after 2 P.M. until the funeral hour.
