WILLINGTON

Alvin A. Eichorn, 80, of Willington, CT, beloved husband of the late Margaret S. (Bloom) Eichorn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Texarkana, AR, he was the son of the late Alvin A. and Bonnie (Sebourn) Harris. While attending Whittier College, Al was a proud member of the Lancer Society and the football team, graduating with distinction in 1967. Al proudly served his country in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam era. After his military service, he retired as Vice President and Head of Sales at PMP Corporation.

A man of many talents and passions, Al enjoyed woodworking, painting, photography, golf, and writing poetry. Al was an avid hiker who completed the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim hike three times, journeyed through Philmont Scout Ranch three times, and explored countless trails and peaks across the United States. Al had a deep love for travel, having set foot in all 50 states and ventured through countless countries, each journey adding a new story to his life.

He was deeply committed to his community, serving as a local Boy Scout leader in Troop 82 and as a member of the executive board for the Connecticut Rivers Council. He was also a life member of the Willington Fish and Game Club and was instrumental in organizing numerous sports programs in town.

An avid UConn Women's Basketball fan, Al was a dedicated season ticket holder. He was also a supporter of the arts, contributing to and frequently attending performances at the Bushnell Theater.

Al is survived by his loving children, Meghan Eichorn, and David Eichorn and his wife, Ashley; his cherished grandchildren, who affectionately called him Owl, Lukas and Fiona Stetson, and Wyatt, Waylon, Walker, and Killian Eichorn; his devoted partner, Susan Henry; niece, Deanna May; nephews, Billy May and Corey Bloom and his wife, Ava; niece, Jennifer Bloom and her wife, Tiffany; and sister-in-law, Cindy Hurlburt. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary May, brother, James W. Eichorn, and brother-in-law, Loring Bloom.
