Alvin Issac Rieley, 91, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully February 22, 2025 at his home. He was the widower of Berthaleice Kinch (Ingram) Rieley who passed away in 2020.
Alvin was born April 2, 1933 in Hanover, Jamaica, a son of the late Daniel Martin and Alfreda Rieley. In 1958, Alvin left Jamaica settling first in Florida in 1958, and soon after moving to Waterbury in 1970. Prior to his retirement Alvin had been employed at Anchor Fasteners in Waterbury for over 40 years. He enjoyed watching Cricket games, old Western movies, The Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal as well as playing Dominos and dining out; he loved baked potatoes! Alvin found his greatest joy being surrounded by his family, most especially his grandchildren.
He leaves five sons, Derment Martin of Waterbury, Lansford Martin of Jamaica, Tomblyn Martin of Jamaica, Victor Kinch and his wife, Tatia, of Waterbury, and Vernon Kinch and his wife, Kisha, of Boston, MA, three daughters, Angela Martin of Waterbury, Maria Foster of Waterbury and Lillian Denise Edwards-Saunders of Waterbury, two sisters, Delseta "Dell" (Martin) Salmon of FL, and Vastine (Martin) Walker of Jamaica, a sister-in-law, Harriette Sherffield and her husband, Troy, 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Noel Lisa Kinch, great granddaughter, Danaya Foster, brothers, Austin, Samuel and Ruel Martin, his sisters, Ivy Martin and Victoria "Clinis" Martin, also two son-in-laws, Walter Foster and Terrence "Bertie" Saunders.
Arrangements: A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2025 at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. A calling hour will be held Friday, from 10:00 a.m. till the time of the service at the funeral home.
