Alvin Satchell Obituary
Alvin Lowell Satchell, 61, of Norfolk, formerly of Nassawadox, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, with his family at his bedside at the Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk.
He was born on September 10, 1948, in Northampton County, Virginia, to parents, George B. and Ella Bailey Satchell.
Alvin attended the public schools of Northampton County, Virginia. After graduation from Northampton High School, Machipongo, Virginia, he enrolled at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Campus, then enlisted and served a tour of duty in the United States Navy. After completion of his tour, he then enrolled in Norfolk State University where he graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts and Graphic Design.
Alvin was a Christian man with love in his heart for his family, friends, and those who knew him. He was a member of The Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, where he served in the Security Ministry.
Alvin is survived by his parents; one son, Alvin L. Satchell Jr. and his wife, Camellia, of San Diego, California; a daughter, Tomisha Jones and her husband, Quinton Sr., of Richmond; one grandson, Quinton Jr.; a very special friend, Doris Branch of Norfolk; four brothers, Clarence Satchell and his wife, Malisha, of Norfolk, Marvin C. Satchell of Nassawadox, Thomas Wayne Satchell and his wife, Eloise, of Orange, and Gearld L. Satchell of Nassawadox; one sister, Elizabeth Spady and her husband, Eugene, of Nassawadox; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Union Baptist Church, Eastville, Virginia, with Pastor George Bright officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at the church. The body will lie in state for viewing from 12 until 1 p.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the church.
Satchell's Funeral Service of Orange is in charge of arrangements.

To the Satchell Family,
I am sorry to hear of the passing of your love one, Alvin. I grew up with Alvin at Northampton County High School. We were in the choir for the years of our high school days. May the family find peace in knowing that earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. God is able to comfort the heart and give you peace during this time. Hold on to your memories and the good days and times that you shared together. My prayers and thoughts are with you continually.
