Edward Ridley, Sr., 75, transitioned from this life to his eternal home on September 30, 2025.
Edward was born and raised in Norfolk, VA to Roland Ridley, Sr. and the late Eula Frances Clark Ridley on December 25, 1949. He was educated in the Norfolk public school system and graduated from Booker T. Washington high school.
To further his education, Edward attended Norfolk State University for two years, then enlisted in the US Marine Corps. While enlisted, he was deployed to operation Desert Shield Storm and completed service in Southwest Asia. After over 20 years of service, Edward was honorably discharged as a Gunny Sergeant. He then worked as a Norfolk Detention Supervisor for the City of Norfolk until his retirement.
Edward was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4809 (VFW) and a former Mason.
Edward was predeceased by his son, Edward Ridley, Jr.; mother, Eula Frances Ridley; brother, Roland Riddley, Jr.; grandparents, Robert E. and Henrietta Clarke.
Edward leaves to cherish his fond memories, his wife of 30 years, Dorothy Moore Ridley; children Tai Ridley-Green, LaTisha Moore, Toye Bland (Na Tonya), Antonio Bland (Necole); grandchildren, X-Zayvier Ridley, Zaniya Ridley, Lashanta Moore, Shakeenah Moore, Kenny Bland, Creshe Bland, Johnathan Hicks; father, Roland Ridley, Sr.; siblings, Paula McGlee (Ernest), Brenda West (Ronald Sr.), Gayland Ridley (Lee), Timothy Ridley; brother-in-law, James Allen Moore, Jr.; son-in-law, Edward Diggs; a host of great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
